Insanity

In the position of a harmless human being,

astonished I watch, via satellite,

the most recent mega-madman on duty

(half-closed eyes, crunched teeth,

taking a tremendous effort

not to slobber his own tie;

the hands holding tight the lectern

to avoid the paranoiac gestures)

announcing, for the happiness of his dark mentors

entrenched in Wall Street,

that the preparatory measures are made

to start the next Armageddon.

Across the planet,

enlightened world leaders

quickly take their calculators,

do and redo statistics and prognosis,

discuss the cost/benefit relations,

accord the quotas of the plunder,

and, just and wisely, they decide

the very price of their support

to another cynical, stupid and bloody war

toward World Peace.

Meanwhile, the bulk of mankind,

simple and credulous mortal people,

true candidates to become flesh-for-cannon,

awaits the escalation of the news,

believing, ma non troppo,

that, at the end, the Good always will defeat

the badly outlined Evil’s forces.
